You'll also need
- Toothpicks and/or headpin for finer detail designs
- Optional: Colored wire or charms, depending on which project you'd like to make
- Paper towels
The longer you wait before combining, then manipulating your colored resin, the more clear and precise the patterns will be.
In these next 2 pieces I created the base black and white designs, let that set up for at least 4 hours, then poured a doming layer of clear resin on top. I waited about 1-1/2 hours for the resin to thicken up, then inserted the charm/wire. I pushed it down into the firming resin creating a ripple effect that really catches the light and adds dimension to the piece. If you do this too early your accents will just sink in the top layer. It'll still look good, but you won't have the ripple effect.
At this angle you can easily see how the ripple effect catches the light.
